Mumbles Community Council has reached agreement on its budget for the 2021-22 financial year.

The budget, which totals £600,000, will be used for ongoing and new initiatives that in the Mumbles area.

MCC's investment plans include the Underhill and skatepark development projects, as well as play equipment for West Cross Green, festoon lighting for Newton Road shops, improved pathways in Castle Woods and a 'street basketball court.'

Environmental projects include additional wildflower verges, wildlife signage on the promenade and developing the Castle Fields community orchard.

The council also hopes to see the return of popular local festivals, such as Mumbles Fest, as soon as it is safe and acceptable to do so.

The precept that is collected by Swansea City Council has been frozen for the year ahead and represents £57.99 for a typical Band D household.

MCC Chair, Dr Martin O'Neill said, "I am very pleased that we have managed to set a budget for the forthcoming year while maintaining the current precept.

"Although we have a number of innovative and exciting projects in the pipeline, such as Underhill and the skateboard park, we realise that 2020 has been a very difficult year for many of us in the community and we felt that, at the very least, it was important we maintain the precept at last year's levels.

"Hopefully, later this year as we emerge from lockdown and the current restrictions residents and visitors to Mumbles alike will be able to benefit from these facilities."
