Newton Road will be upgraded later this month following the agreement of Swansea Council, a local councillor has said.

In a statement on Facebook, Cllr Myles Langstone said: "After a lot of lobbying, I am really pleased to announce that Swansea Council have agreed to upgrade Newton Road later this month."

"Obviously, the timetable may change, given the circumstances, but we have had that commitment that the upgrade will happen.

"This is really great news, and as you can imagine I've received a lot of correspondence from residents about this issue given the terrible state of Newton Road, so this is really positive."

The work will upgrade the highway from the roundabout at the White Rose, to the junction with Langland Road.

Residents who live in the area will be receiving a letter with further information.

The work will not cover the footway, but, Cllr Langstone said, he and colleague Cllr William Thomas are working on a separate project to cover the pavement.
