Mumbles Community Council recently voted in favour of submitting an expression of interest for the council to take over the double tennis courts and toilet block site at Langland Bay from City & County of Swansea.

The current vision is to upgrade the public toilets, install new seating and provide new facilities for sports such as basketball, volleyball and paddle tennis, the community council said in a recent post. Plans would potentially include a yoga studio too.

The proposal was initiated by Cllr Will Thomas, who said: "Let us now hope we can convince Swansea Council that this is the best way forward. This is an iconic site that should be protected for sports and recreation."

The content of a more detailed proposal will be explored once a response from the City and County of Swansea is received regarding the expression of interest.

MCC Chair, Dr Martin O'Neill added: "There is a lot of local interest and support for the site at Langland to be preserved for the use of visitors and residents alike. By submitting an expression of interest Mumbles Community Council are throwing their hat into the ring and letting Swansea Council know that we would like to play a significant part in any future development.

"Although it is early days yet MCC are keen to ensure any future development is in keeping with the history and heritage of the surrounding area and also provides up to date facilities for users."
