Mumbles Market will not take place this month, a spokesperson announced on social media.

"Following the recent Welsh Government update (on Friday 29th January) and close consultation with Swansea Council and the Public Health Team regarding the extension of level 4 restrictions across Wales, we have decided not to proceed with any of our markets (of any description) this month," a Facebook post from Mumbles Market read.

The team behind the market said that they will continue to review the situation following Welsh Government updates before re-opening. The next update will take place in three weeks.

"We can't wait to welcome all of our brilliant traders and amazing supporters back to a COVID Safe Mumbles Market as soon as possible but in the meantime, we'd like to keep you linked to great local produce via South Wales Food and Drink," the post read.

South Wales Food and Drink is a free online directory connecting you with local producers in your area including many of our regular traders.

The market had been able to re-open on 11 July 2020 after restrictions were lifted last year but had to close again following the announcement of the most recent lockdown on 16 December.

It usually takes place on the second Saturday of every month from 9am to 1pm at the Dairy Car Park on Mumbles Road.

When it was able to re-open, the market put safety measures in place including hand sanitising stations, social distancing, and a one-way system.

Market attendees were encouraged to wear masks, avoid handling produce until after purchase, and to use contactless payments wherever possible.
