Langland Bay Golf Course is on the lookout for a new qualified green keeper.

The role will require the green keeper to contribute effort to presenting the best golf course possible and to work well within a team, a Facebook post from the Langland Bay page read.

Last year, the golf club won the Welsh Golf Club of the Decade Award.

"The job will involve the skilled use of appropriate tools and equipment, including pedestrian and ride-on mowers, tractor mounted implements and hand-tools," the post read.

"Regular tasks will include tee, green, rough and fairway mowing, hole-changing and bunker maintenance.

"The job will also involve aeration, top-dressing and project work e.g., bunker renovations etc. Quality of finish and attention to detail are of paramount importance."

According to the post, the ideal candidate will be able to work as part of a team and have strong communication skills, good personal presentation, and be self-motivated and enthusiastic.

The candidate should be committed to Health & Safety practices and have an NVQ II Sports Turf or equivalent, the post said.

The job would require the individual to regularly assess play and traffic areas on the course; pedestrian and vehicle access routes and reporting any areas

of concern.

They would need to follow the safe working practices implemented by senior team members ensuring the safety of all golfers, staff and contractors.

Desirable qualitied include:

  • 3 years+ experience in similar role.
  • CA30/C31 Chainsaw qualification.
  • PA1, PA2A, PA6 spraying certificates.

The golf club, whose honorary members include Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas, has an 18-hole course and is situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The course was officially opened in 1904, but there is evidence of a minute book from the golf club dating back to 1901.

Those interested in the role should contact PGA Director of Gold, Andrew Minty, on [email protected] or 01792 361721 (opt 1).
