The injured individual was given medical attention and evacuated from the scene by helicopter.
They safely landed at the Three Cliffs Holiday Park, where they were transferred to an ambulance.
The Mumbles Lifeboat RNLI and Horton and Port Eynon Lifeboat RNLI were also called in but stood down on route to the scene.
"Well done to all involved, rescue crew, members of the public and local businesses for their involvement in a successful joint tasking," Mumbles Coastguard said in a Facebook post.
Tim Conway Lifeboat Operations manager at The Mumbles said
"Remember when venturing out near the coast to be extra vigilant. "Stay local, stay on the routes you know and always carry a means of calling for help. "The lady was in company but if she'd been alone could have been in serious difficulty'. If you are in trouble near the coast call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
