Newton Road will close between certain hours this week for resurfacing of the road to take place.
The road will close for five days from 28 January, between the hours of 6pm and midnight.
First Cymru has said that the 2A bus service will operate via Mumbles Road & Knab Rock to Bracelet Bay.
Service 3A will operate via Mumbles Road, Knab Rock & Thistleboon to Caswell.
Inbound journeys on service 2A will be unaffected while service 3A will follow the same diversion via Thistleboon & Knab Rock, resuming normal routing at Oystermouth Square.
Councillor Myles Langstone announced the road closure in a Facebook post on Sunday, saying that it is due to the upgrade of the highway.
"I've been calling for this upgrade for some time, so great to see it going ahead," Cllr Langstone said.
An alternative route for drivers is being provided through Dunn's Lane, Gower Place, and Queen's Road.
Cllr Langstone announced the upgrade of the road earlier this month.
In a statement on Facebook, Cllr Langstone said: "After a lot of lobbying, I am really pleased to announce that Swansea Council have agreed to upgrade Newton Road later this month."
"Obviously, the timetable may change, given the circumstances, but we have had that commitment that the upgrade will happen.
"This is really great news, and as you can imagine I've received a lot of correspondence from residents about this issue given the terrible state of Newton Road, so this is really positive."
Cllr Will Thomas added that he and Cllr Langstone are working towards improving the pavement on the same stretch of road.
