Swansea's overall coronavirus infection rate continues to fall, the latest data from Public Health Wales has revealed.

The areas of Swansea with the highest rates of coronavirus cases currently are Landore, Sketty and Loughor.

The areas with the lowest rates are Ravenhill, Uplands and Brynmill.

Latest case rates for Mumbles

Mumbles and Newton: 0-2

Mayals and Bishopston: 0-2

West Cross: 7

West Gower: 4

What does this data mean?

The latest update for Covid-19 cases has been released by Public Health Wales. It is based on the rolling seven-day average up to 6 February.

It is important to note that because this data covers small areas, it is very volatile – where an area has a very small population, even one positive case can push up the cases per 100,000 significantly.

For instance, West Cross and Llansamlet have exactly the same number of cases in this seven-day period (seven cases) but the number of cases per 100,000 of population is different, at 108 and 100 respectively.

Llansamlet has a larger population than West Cross, which means that its number of cases per 100,000 is lower as a result.

Vaccination figures for Swansea

The number of vaccination doses administered by Swansea Bay University Health Board is now up to 71,339.

As of 7 February, Wales administered 613,679 doses in total. Nearly all of these were first doses of the vaccine.
