'Do you have what it takes?' RNLI recruits lifeguards for Mumbles beaches

RNLI Lifeguards Swansea is now recruiting for Summer 2021.

The RNLI Lifeguards Swansea are a professional lifeguard service, patrolling the beaches around Swansea, as well as Port Talbot and Carmarthenshire. They work alongside the Lifeboat Stations and provide safety education to the wider community.

In a recent social media post, they announced that they were looking for lifeguards for Summer 2021 on a seasonal, casual or ad hoc basis.

"If you are looking for the best summer job and think you have what it takes, then head over to the RNLI website," the team said in the post appealing for new recruits.

The team responded to over 100 incidents during their last period of service, rescuing, delivering first aid, as well as educating people on beach dangers and daily conditions.

The job

According to the job advert, to be an RNLI lifeguard you will need:

to be focused, vigilant and proactive

to be approachable - someone who enjoys meeting people and helping them stay safe

to be professional, with excellent rescue and people skills.

to be over school leaving age

to hold a valid International Life Saving Federation (ILS) recognised beach lifeguard qualification.

to pass a fitness and competency test, as well as health and eyesight checks, as the job can be physically demanding.

If you're under 18 years old, you can still apply, but will need to have parental permission. Some locations also have fewer posts available to under-18s because due to safeguarding commitments.

The closing date is 4th April 2021.
